When I asked my question I was think the pipe filter was for nicotine and tar, but have since discovered it’s more about moisture, slow burn, etc. Is there a filter mostly focused around tar and nicotine removal, or would that also filter all the notes and flavors.
The charcoal style will do more of that as the smoke physically passes through the filter containing activated charcoal vs. the balsa style that does more wicking by contact.

The charcoal style will mute flavors and tighten the draw a little so it’s a pro/con.

Because I use MM Cobs for now I am using the 6mm and seem to good with them. I did order some 6mm balsa inserts but seemed to reduce the taste but I have 50 of them so will keep tailing them,

For 9mm is hearing extremes where some people love them and feel
It’s helps with moisture and improves taste, while others feel it hurts taste.

I will try all as I acquire pipes and will probably just end up with them all.
