If I can have a pipe without noticeable fills I'd choose that one. In the price range I shop for estate pipes I'd rather not buy one with fills, and I'm pretty darn cheap.
I've read that if you are refinishing a pipe with fills you can mark them out with a Sharpie pen before restaining so they don't show quite as much. Never tried that though.
