Quick update folks.

I've settled on getting an Altinay pipe. Their work is amazing and comes highly recommended by almost everyone I've talked to.

The model I want isn't currently available but will be soon. Said from Altinay is an absolute pleasure to deal with.

I really cannot recommend them enough!

Prices seem right - regardless of whether one agrees with them or not. The master has retired. I sold a cased estate calabash of his for $500 on eBay last year

Was just looking at Baki pipes and noted this thread. So in the name of resurrection...

I've had this Fikri Baki for many years. One of my earliest meers and still smokes great. Mostly burley blends. No issues with draw. I, too, was shocked to see the prices about a year or so ago, so -- needless to say -- this will be my one and only.



Also have a Fehmi Yavuz saucer. A more recent purchase. It sits at my bedside and is often one of the first or last pipes i smoke in a day.

Indeed. I bought the bamboo-shanked one long ago. According to my records i paid $150 for it new.

Crazy how times change. The one I bought was about the same price. Just a straight billiard with a cumberland stem. My daughter bought me an estate recently and am afraid to ask her what she paid for it.

So true. Prices always seem to go in one direction. When i see anything desirable related to my hobbies (whisky, motorcycles, pipes, cigars, wine, etc) i always tell myself it's never going to be cheaper than it is right now. Good enough justification for immediate self-gratification anyway.

My daughter bought me an estate recently and am afraid to ask her what she paid for it.

Have you shown that one before? Hopefully she got a deal somewhere, but in any event kudos to her for making it obvious you're loved. (Bright side - but in this case, ignorance may be bliss.)

It was a mystery who sent them to me for a few days but then she sent me a message asking if I had gotten them only to tell me she had also gotten me a Mehmet Fatih.


The Baki is the bent one and the straight is an IMP.


Good sizes on both.
