The older GBD and Kawoodies are fairly easy to find at a reasonable price and are good smokers, Dr Grabow are much cheaper but still smoke well.
As for the music, Id suggest Slipknot, Godsmack and Disturbed, or is that to mellow for your tasts :)

Thanks for your input, I will look into them. As for the music, Disturbed are good but the other two, well, they are not for me ! All good bands, one rule I have is never slag a band, unless its truly merited. When I want to lose myself in crunching hard rock I turn to Down or Pantera. For the more refined metal taste its always the Priest. Iron Maiden are too basey for me - Mr Harris likes to be noticed in his band. I had the pleasure to meet Paul Di'Ann in the middle 80's when my band supported his. The Firehouse in Bootle, Liverpool; a rather nasty dive, and Paul Di'Anno sorted all the troublemakers out !
Sablebrush52: What I do is select the portion I'm going to quote and paste it into the reply window. Then I select it again and click on the "quote" button in the menu above the reply window. That puts the BBC code on either side.

Following that, I type my response and hit send post.
Thank you my friend, appreciated !
Westhampipe: nice looking pipe my friend. I will have to photogrph my small selection.

Relax and enjoy your pipe.

I will in a few more weeks. Still waiting on a number of items which I ordered through Ebay.
OK folks. Hope this comes out right !!!

Some excellent pipe recommendations here. I think what will make the most difference is finding an easy smoking tobacco. When I reach for something that I know will give me a nice, cool, easy smoke, it's Dunhill Elozabethan, C&D Haunted Bookshop, and Germain's Brown Flake. Where you're located, Brown Flake might be easier to come by. Rubbed out, it burns down to a fine white ash.

Corn Cob(bent) is my first purchase online and I'm really happy with it. I bought the GQ pipe starter kit, and thus far have enjoyed the aromatic smokes. I will be purchasing a few more corn cob pipes in the near future.
THanks to Paul for the Liverpool tobacconist. Much appreciated.

You can't go wrong with a cob! I was surprised at how easy they smoked when I first picked one up.
Totally agree with you here, codecreatively, cobs are great. I have ordered two more cobs which may arrive later today. I am now researching tobaccos, my favorites currently are aromatics.Any suggestions truly appreciated. Its a shame my dad, a pipe smoker, isn't around to share in the fun I'm having ! My wife doesn't get pipe smoking sadly.
Hey ho and onward we pipe smokers go :D

If you're already a St Bruno fan perhaps you might want to consider Condor Ready Rubbed (green pack) or the more flavoursome Condor Long Cut (brown pack). Both are excellent tobaccos blended in the English tradition.
Regards,
Jay.

Thanks Jay. I will certainly investigate your suggestion. I am enjoying my return back to the world of pipe smoking.

You might try explaining a group of pipes to your wife as a collection, and also as a rotation to let the pipes dry out between smokes. You might mention the different shapes and names -- just a little information at a time so she doesn't get bored. If you can find a good smelling tobacco she likes to smell, and smoke that around her when possible. If you can do this a little at a time, she might take a limited interest, enough to provide some understanding on the subject. The different shapes have names. Pipes come from various countries. Spin a little factual yarn around it.

Excellent suggestions mso489. She has relented somewhat on her 'hard line' approach, and I seized the chance to purchase some more pipes ! I have told her I'll not need any more pipes for a while, but will need to purchase more tobacco soon.
Onwards and upwards.........................

Cobs rule! Well, at least they are highly respectable pipes on the rack. Light weight, durable, smooth smokers.
