Same as Ekert in my relative newness to the game but I am very taken with flake and some ribbon cuts I have been smoking lately...

No real favorites as far as cut since my favorite blends run the gamut.

The SG style of flake, BBF, seems the most versatile. I can fluff to ribbon, cut into cubes, or fold & stuff.

Mac Baren style flake. Easy to store, transport, multiple ways to smoke it. Folded will get you a nice long smoke in a pretty small pipe or rub it out with a looser pack in a bigger pipe.
Flake is my favorite, and MB does it best, IMO.

Agreed, mws. While flake isn't my *top* choice, I may end up using it in my new Preben Holm, since my usual aromatic needs too much airing out before I can smoke it dry. Flake would give me a good & quicker smoke.

No necessarily. Some flakes come quite damp, and take as long to dry as any other cut (once rubbed out).

Yeah, that's true, woods, & I probably should have clarified that I meant the normally drier flakes (*&* curlies, which I should have also included), not the damper stuff.
Speaking of which, I finally buckled & ordered some 3 Nuns from SPC the other day, along with some Sail & other stuff. I hadn't smoked any 3N since before they excised perique from it ("manufactured" or otherwise! -laugh-) Figured just what the heck, y'know? I'd read Kevin's blog entry on it when I first came on board, & while I know I'll be able to tell the difference, I figure MB's variety deserved a shot, so.... )

I burn them all. Smoke what you like and like what you smoke. It all depends on my mood, time of day, how much time is available to smoke, raining, sunny, warm, cold, etc, etc. A different blend for each opportunity.
