I have mostly Gawith & Hoggarth flakes, ropes & plug in my rotation ,even though I sometimes have to fight them to keep them alight I much prefer them to ribbon cuts

Generally speaking, best I like so called Ready Rubbed (Broken flake)tobaccos then the second favorite of mine might be pure flake tobaccos themselves. Also I do like shag cuts but with these I have hard time to keep burning rate sufficiently slow

Plug, cakes and flakes or broken flake. They're Old skool'- burn slower, look cool and have better flavor. Plus I love the ritual of preparing it. Sexy looking tobacco for sure.
Ribbons and shag I despise. Shag looks like rat nesting. Ribbon-cut looks like confetti and Easter basket filler. They burn hot and fast unless you pack the crap out of it but then it still isn't an appealing smoke to me. Zero sex appeal, IMO. I disliked these cuts so bad and avoided them completely but recently decided to press them myself into cakes.

I'll put up with anything if I like the taste. But like Bill said earlier, rope just looks too much like poop.

>>">Stalk, vein leaf" -- Woods, I swear to God I'm gonna hit you with a tobacco stick if you don't strip this. :)
>>"like Bill said earlier, rope just looks too much like poop." -- Thanks, cortez. And that's one of the more * "appealing"* pictures!

I'm limited to shag at the moment as most of my tobacco is prepared from whole leaf, though I have made a few ropes that are aging at the moment.

Flake is tops with me. Burns cooler and , to me, has a deeper flavor than if rubbed out. I also like blends better in flake form (ie Star of the East Flake better than regular SOTE) if it is an option. The flavors meld together better.

I'm relatively new and have only tried flakes, coins, and ribbon cut and enjoy them all.
