Bulldogs, Zulus, Authors here... I like the old English shapes. Pipe smoking is such a nostalgic exercise for me that older shapes seem natural.

Billiard/Canadian/Lovat family make up the bulk of my pipes. Shape I most want to add to my collection is the Rhodesian. Or any other shape for that matter.

The execution of the shape is just as important--if not more so--as the shape itself, at least for me. I'm kinda picky.

I always come back to Lovats and the other long-shanked-billiard derivatives. As much briar and as short of a stem as possible typically floats my boat. I branch out now and again when something catches my eye however. I'm working with Ryan Alden (lonestar here on the forums) on a cute, I have a peterson bulldog which I like the looks of even though it's not my favourite smoker, and my best latakia blend pipe is a king sized savinelli bent billiard (a 606 I believe). But my lovats and canadians are my favourites to look at and use - especially my Alden Lovat, Ryan cants the bowl juuuuuuust slightly and tapers the shank in such a slight manor that it, counterintuitively, really emphasizes the straight english shape.
