In spite of Wolf666's effed up movie list - Paint Your Wagon and Blade. WTF? - I could sit down with any one of you cats and find something mutually agreeable.
As I get older I find myself reaching, more and more, for certain directors. Peckinpah is always a favorite, as is Tarrentino and Richard Brooks.
The fact that you guys tossed in Scosese, Eastwood, Guy Ritchie and Orson Welles, well hell, its all good.

Limiting it to ten is hard... No particular order besides #1.

1. My alltime favorites are the Boondock Saints movies. Not great works of film, but as far as really enjoying movies, these have provided the most value for me personally. I can watch them over and over.

2. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Even if they don't compare to the books, they're still great movies.

3. The Godfather Trilogy

4. The Hannibal Trilogy

5. The Secret Window (One of Depp's best)

6. The Prestige

7. The Pianist

8. Schindler's List

9. There Will Be Blood

10. Titus

11. One extra here if you count miniseries, in which case Band of Brothers makes the list.

1) The Wizard of Oz (probably my all time favorite, filled with spiritual lessons IMHO)
The rest are in no particular order, not very high brow, but these are films I could watch multiple times:
Jaws

What About Bob?

Groundhog Day

Barcelona

Inception

Annie Hall

It's A Wonderful Life

The Matrix

On Golden Pond

I went nuts over Star Wars when I saw it as a first release. I was a young teen and was transfixed! Now I have trouble watching it - seen it too many times. :puffy:

Shoah (all eight hours or whatever)

Gone With The Wind (for its incredible editing and Vivian's acting)

8 1/2 for its visionary images

Persona (I won kudos for my review of this when I was in college)

Casablanca for its depiction of historical existential limbo

Blind Man, an almost unknown movie that makes Tarantino unnecessary

Annie Hall, Interiors, The Butler, and Zelig, Sleeper, among other Woody Allen

Fantasia, despite my mistrust of everything Disney

The Red Desert (Antonioni)

Many others, but this gives the drift.
