Salty dogs is a must, especially with how much cheaper it is at Esterval’s.

Veermaster is also an absolute classic.

Bjarne flake de luxe is also an excellent blend available at Esterval’s, and ages quite well.

Dan Buddies would be my #1 choice. It's the strangest "Orange Tang" flavored blend, nothing else quite like it or even close. Devils Holiday is a great blend as well.

So finally I gave in and ordered a couple of "new to me" blends from Estervals Pipe House. They have a massive sale on and suddenly it makes sense to order in bulk. Kriswill Navy cut Blue and St Bernard have been my choices, both in 250gm mylar pouches. The burning question is, what else from this blender is good ? I am tempted by Limerick from the Treasures of Ireland range as it sounds delicious. Any other suggestions are welcome. I favour VaPer blends and Navy cut Flakes.
I had a tin of Limerick from 1999. It was incredible in 2019. I've never had it fresh but have consider buying a bag from Estervel's, just never went through with it.

St Bernard Flake is an absolute gem, one of my favorite tobaccos of all time. I’ve bought two 4 kilo manhole covers from Esterval‘s and only the first one was split up amongst friends. It reminds me of Dunhill Navy Rolls but bigger across the board.

Ascanian #2 and DTM Patriot Flake are also excellent.
St Bernard is one of the best blends I have tried in tha VaPer genre. I have only tried 2 bowls so far, but I agree with you. Its like DNR but on steroids.

Any love for Mallard Flake? I am tempted to give it a try, as it seems to be in stock more often than most of their blends.

Mallard flake is quite decent but it's fairly mild. If you like a milder Virginia and have the patience to smoke it slowly there is some very good flavor there. They have a mallard with perique out now that I am somewhat interested in.

My favorites from Dan are Veermaster, Salty dogs and Torskenjold VA slices.

After K&K seemingly changed all the Rattray's classics for the worse I haven't found the gumption to make a big Esterval's order and so have only tried a handful of DTM stuff. Of what I have tried Salty Dogs is a fantastic VaPer and one of the few true plugs, and Devil's Holiday is far and away one of the most best and unique aromatics I've ever smoked.

I'm certainly not happy when blends change for no reason. The last Solani 633 I bought in 50gm tins had definitely changed, and not for the better. So far I have been delighted with Dan tobacco products and I'm awaiting some Salty Dogs and Limerick flake. I will certainly buy more St Bernard Flake as it is one of the best VaPer blends I have tried and a fraction of the cost of DNR or Escudo.

I love both Ascanian’s and St Bernard’s. Thanks to the forum for the Estervals sale I have quite a bit headed my way, however I goofed and only got 1 250g St Bernard’s.

John, give Salty Dogs a try. Being a vaper fan you are going to enjoy it. I tend to make a parfait of St. Bernard as a base and about a third of salty dogs on top. That way you start with a sweeter vaper and then head into the vaper virgina layer below. SD is a nice slow burner. You can sip it and make it last a long time. Great stuff. From what I understand its sold by Dan Tobac but made by Orlik. Its a very dense plug. It smells so good you want to eat it.

Thanks Sigmund. I have Salty Dogs at last and now I have four VaPers by DTM:-

Salty Dogs
St Bernard
Kriswill Blue
Limerick.

So far enjoying comparing them all. Very fun time for me.
