I've never heard of this movie and after Googling it I see it's on HBOmax. I will be watching this soon. ?
It is set in Hungary, where my mother is from, so that tugs my heart strings. It's bit like a play, but enjoyable.

OMFG - I get not thinking of Christmas In Connecticut, for example, in the moment of typing my list (and we love it, always have, though I always thought the baby looked a little odd, frankly) but forgetting the original Miracle On 34th Street was unforgivable! I will not tell my daughters I committed that mistake. Edmund Gwenn was so good in so many movies.
My kids wanted it on DVD when it came out, so on the way home from a 2 hour trip north to a mall before Xmas to do some Xmas shopping which included getting them a copy they watched it on the way home on the DVD player they could see in the back seats. I didn't know anything about it and couldn't see it, but the minute I heard Bob Newhart's voice, I was in, and the minute I heard Jimmy Caan's voice, I was sold! Okay, I watched The Shop Around the Corner. It was quite good and I recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.
I don’t know how I forgot about Planes Trains & Automobiles. I can’t count how many times I’ve seen it, and I still laugh.
It's still Donovan's Reef. And still a close second is A Christmas Carol starring Alastair Sim.
