Which is your favorite billiard for smoking Latakia English blends. Out of all the pipes I use for English blends this 1977 Mastro de Paja Fatta a Mano always provides the sweetest smoke. It's seen a lot of bowl of McClellands British Woods lately.
Mine has to be my 1968 Dunhill. I haven't had it very long, I bought it from Samcoffeeman a few months back and I have smoked McClellands almost exclusively in it. It has become one of my favorite pipes all together.
Here's my "English blend" billiards, top to bottom;
1)Stanwell "40" Zebrano (really more of a short shanked lumberman, due to the oval shank and saddle bit)
2)Caminetto "107KS" Business
3)Peterson "106" Zippo
4)Aldo Velani "58" Suprema
5)Prince Of Whales (no number) Hand Made
6)Old England "27N" Virgin Briar
All of these are excellent smokers, though the Aldo Velani is still in the break-in period.
Saloow that's a very handsome pipe you have there too! Looks like a true classic.
My Mastro is on the large size. Length: 6", Bowl height: 2", Rim width: 1 1/2", Chamber width: 7/8"
I've grown fond of this little Linkmans Dr. Grabow in spite of the stinger. I find myself using it for English blends exclusively. I also use my V.V. billiard for those blends mostly too. They both have smaller bowls that I prefer for those tobaccos.
When I did smoke English blends my favorite pipes were Castello, Radice and Upshall. Never got one that was a cool dry smoker, that smoke my English bends very nicely. I normally went for bigger pipes like large group 5's, 6's and ODA's. I always felt the multitude of different tobacco's that made up my favorite blends needed a larger pipe to allow the flavors to open up.
I picked up this Jobey partially-rusticated billiard for my English blends - so far I've tried Lancer Slices and Frog Morton in it. Still need to try out the H&H Englishes that I've got on hand...
