I have most generally been a Jamesons man when it came to my partying bar days. I also enjoy Makers Mark when I am in the mood to be a bit more "controlled". As I move into my mid 40's I seem to be trending more towards the finer things in life as I mellow out a bit, and am at a point where I wish to expand my horizons and broaden my taste.
Aside from deciding to pick up the pipe, learn something about tobacco and try my hand at some woodturning, I've decided to test the waters of some different bourbons and some quality scotches as well. When I am escorted from my current remote sanctuary at the end of the month my wife and I have decided on the Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve as our first excursion in finding some of the good stuff. I have read a few great reviews and from the sounds of it it seems it would go together with a pipe beautifully.
Any experiences with this particular Jim Beam offering? I am hoping it is nothing like Jim Beam 'cuz I can't stand that stuff. The very smell of it makes me gag. A lot of folks like it though, I just don't get it.
If you have had the Knob Creek, what type of tobacco would you recommend pairing it up with?
