For Father's day an inlaw gave me a box marked "Joyoldelf" (you can see it on Amazon). It contained an assortment of pipe accessories. On the bottom it said "China", so I knew what to expect. It has a bunch of unwanted, unneeded, worthless, poorly made crap designed to sell to the newbie pipe smoker. The pipe cleaner's wire is so poor they bend with the slightest resistance. The tobacco pouch is unlined. And, to me, most of the other stuff is useless. I could go on. It did contain 2 cork knockers which I can use, but even these are too small.

Her heart was in the right place when she bought this, so I've thanked her for a "great gift". Not to compare myself with greatness, her giving me this thing is like someone giving A.J. Foyt a beginner's driving handbook. This is why I told my wife years ago never to buy me any pipe stuff. puffy

For pipe gifts, let it be known, a gift card at an online retailer is the way to go. You'll never figure out what another pipe smoker will want.

The only exceptions are my wife and sister who have a bizarre intuition and get me great pipes and blends. No explaining it.

Not a father myself however I got my dad a food saver for Father’s Day as he had been talking about wanting one for a while.
A food saver or vacuum sealer, can be great if you want to store away some bulk tobacco. I had one (went kaput a while back) and I loved the way it would take a bag of tobacco and suck all the air out until the bag was half it's original size and all wrinkled up. Sure kept the tobacco fresh though. For long term storage I don't think you can beat it. puffy
