Yes, he uses the smoke to try to leaven for his pancakes. Not really working in this instance.

When I was hanging out in Stevie Ray's trailer in 1985 he was smoking cigarettes like the rest of us. I didn't see any pipes. This was at the Newport Jazz Festival.

I was not a pipe smoker at the time, but it is something I would remember as my dad smoked a pipe here and there.

Nope. Other things were more available, but I am not going to go into that. What I posted earlier says enough about that subject.

if your feathers fall out you should talk to the doctor about that. Could be a sign of a vitamin deficiency or it could mean that you fixed a vitamin deficiency and stopped growing feathers... Kind of hard to be sure one way or the other best to make sure!!!

He was there; as were 4 or 5 women too.

As some have mentioned, I think a few of them just did it for an image or rare alternative to cigarettes. I used to read/watch everything I could get my hands on with SRV, and aside of the few sporadic images, the pipe wasn't a thing. Cigarettes and putting coke in his Whiskey was his thing.
