I'm a history buff and was researching famous historical pipe smokers. Ill start with a obscure controversial one.

Literally a whole bunch of people qualify. Seems like Admiral Chester Nimitz was a pipe smoker if I recall correctly.

Interesting choice

I would think that “famous” and “obscure” were diametrical opposites

Ya its a bit of an oxymoron. I just never seen him mentioned in these types of discussions. Hes more regionally famous I would say.
