@condor lover
For me they are as I mentioned; a random man in towns all over the UK wearing shorts and sun hat, those waist coats with loads of pockets, who drive rover cars, blow smoke over everyone in town and can even be seen on beaches puffing away oblivious in the baking sun.

Maybe it's that I'm of a younger generation, but these pipes always look more likely to contain pot than tobacco. If I smoked one of those in LA, I'd have people giving me the piece sign...I guess that's better than getting a dirty look for smoking an obvious tobacco pipe.

Well my pipes have come and they are great, they smoke very easy and cool, are great to clean, are light and very comfortable in the mouth and feel really robust I have just smoked 3 bowls of Punchbowle one after another on the beach walking the dog. The dental mouth piece however will take some getting used to.

Glad you like the pipe, Owen.

4noggins has good prices on new bowls when you want to add them, or watch ebay for estate bowls.
PS,

I hate ferrets, nylon anything, and I wear a baseball hat. You can get "Back from the Ashes" as a Kindle book if you want the history. I actually bought a NOS pipe from the author - very nice lady.

Fairly new to the magazine, at least in terms of replies to forum topics. However, I've just read this about Falcons and thought I'd reply. I have three of them, a straight, curved and bent, with three extra bowls. I've found these pipes quite superb for smoking and, as has been said, they are good workaday items, robust and practical. Their looks might not be beautiful but they do the job and a smoke in them is always enjoyable. I love the simplicity of design and that no-nonsense look that says they are straightforward smoking machines rather than works of art. I find them cool to smoke, easy to clean and light in weight to hold, whether in the mouth or hand. Once a bowl is broken in, a good smoke is guaranteed. I can recommend the Hunter bowl range as well. The higher quality briar and pleasant ochre colouring go well in each of my pipes.

Yes, these pipes might have connotations of certain smoker types, but in my opinion, they hold their own with any other pipe I'd care to mention. I have around twenty three pipes now; my three Falcons have a cherished place in that collection. In fact, as I came across this article,I was smoking some St. Bruno in my curved Falcon at the time and enjoying every moment of it!

@Geo3ge I totally agree with the comments and am very happy to be associated with all the old geezers puffing away in a world of their own. I do need some bigger bowls for mine though.
