Recently I was able to grab some pipes at an auction, one of which was an older unnsmoked Falcon pipe bowl (only). I have notice that the black washer thing next to the threads is gone. I tried it on my pipe and screws in to tight without it, making the draw to restricted. If I back it off some it gets to loose. Does any of you repairmen have suggestions on what could be used to replace?

^^^ This.
Head to a hardware store. bring the pipe with so you size it right.
And bring some change, it's gonna be cheap.

Your local tobacconist may have those rings in stock. Mine even carries the circular "filters," which we all know are simply a pipe cleaner. you can make several from one pipe cleaner yet a bag of them sells for quite a silly amount from Falcon. Yet the O-rings are a little more difficult--not to come by, the other fellas a right you can find them easily, if not from a DIY store then from a specialist hobby shop, but the issue there is your time, searching and fitting and searching and fitting, and searching and...well, you know. ;) So a slightly more expensive one from your pipe shop would be worth the saved time, it seems to me. I'd suggest my usual "buy extras," but I've never worn one out. How about the rest of you fellas?

You might have bought an American made Falcon bowl from before when the production went to England. Only the English bowls have that washer and yours should smoke nicely without it. If you really want one use a flat washer, O-rings will be much too thick for locking the bowl in the three-start thread of the stem.
