There's nothing suspicious about the stampings on s shell being cut off. I've seen that on Dunhill shells from the 1920's onward. The button looks like someone attempted to mitigate some bite marks or dents by reshaping it. Also not unheard of. The pipe looks legit to me. Besides, if someone were going to go to the trouble of faking a Dunhill, would not the person replicate a pipe from a more hotly collected era, like patent, or pre 1968?

You got a terrific gift. Enjoy it.

Great looking pipe, light it up with some Dunhill 965 and enjoy the day. Be sure and take your lady out for a nice steak dinner and a nice bottle of wine.

Thanks for all the input, gents. The synthesis for me seems to be that it's very possible, highly probable that the pipe is legit but that regardless I should shut up and be grateful. One should note, this gift was in answer to a diamond ring and a proposal in part, so it's not like I've been sitting around with my thumb up my ass scrutinizing the authenticity of incredibly generous gifts.
Have a tin of Escudo coming my way on the big brown truck today; think I'll christen the bowl with that. Thanks again y'all!

If you like Escudo, try Peter Stokkebye's Bullseye Flake, you will be amazed! :) I find it has much more complex, deep flavor.

Hello. I hope someone can tell me anything about an advertising plaque I recently acquired. Its a gold and red dunhill advertisement that says DUNHILL IMPORTED CIGARETTE CENTER...
