Thought i'd start a new thread for the upcoming season.

You always have to take testing with a huge grain of salt as you don't know what fuel levels they're running and how much the engines are turned up etc, but it looks like McClaren definitely have an edge going into the new season. Mercedes and Ferrari don't look too far behind but we'll see once the first race gets underway. Red Bull looked a bit behind the others but it's so difficult to tell when it comes to testing.

It's gonna be weird seeing Lewis in a Ferrari and I'll be interested to see how he compares to Leclerc.

Roll on the new season! 🏁

An interesting team by team run down from this morning's newspaper:

I'm always excited for the new year of racing!
Thanks for the link above, I don't really follow off season antics, so that was helpful.
Six new drivers in the mix, that's always fun. Who is the next Schumacher, etc?

Moving South, there are a number of items I still haven't found. But, I found my 1999 Micheal Schumacher hat! He crashed in the 6th race of the season and was injured. This will get MGB use this season, along with my McClaren hat.
I also found a large Ralf Schumacher banner....(I think relatives in Germany sent me these things))

As expected, the McLarens are the cars to beat. Glad to see Max in 3rd and the Williams back in the top 10. Looks like it could be a great season.

Indeed an exciting race.

I'm doing this. Anyone else fancy it? We could post our team points here to see who is winning. You will have to wait until next race week to enter. I think starting late won't affect anything.

That was a fun race.
Not sure how many in-race team errors Lewis will be able to tolerate, but as a Mercedes fan I'm enjoying it. And let's go Williams!

Anybody see the race?
Yes. Set my alarm for the 4 a.m. lights out. My impressions, the big surprises were
  1. Alex Albon and Williams finish 5th!
  2. On successful appeal of the penalty, rookie Kimi Antonelli finishes 4th!
  3. Lance Stroll in 6th! What?
  4. Nico Hulkenberg and Sauber finish in 7th! Sauber?
But that’s what rain and safety car chaos can produce.

Lewis upsetting his engineer was the only bright part of his race. Lando better toughen up, Piastri has no holds from the team and is improving every lap. Max’s car will only get better.

The best radio chatter was this:

Charles Leclerc : "The seat is full of water”
Bryan Bozzi (his engineer) : "That must be the water” Charles Leclerc : “Let’s add that to the words of wisdom …”

Hahahaha😆

Sad to report that Eddie Jordan has died aged 76. A brilliant man and a true one off.

His Jordan F1 team of the 90's and 2000's punched above their weight and achieved 3 F1 race wins. Not a bad result considering the big boys used to have mountains of cash to spend because there were no financial caps, back in the day. He was also Adrian Newey's manager and engineered his move from Red Bull to Aston Martin.

He eventually sold his team and became a commentator for tv. Easily my favourite as he was forthright and said what he thought plus he always had inside information about the goings on in the paddock.

He also gave Schumacher (among others) his debut in F1

He'll be missed.
