IDK about anyone else but this new tax (WRONG!) they put on all my online orders just plain sux. I am not fortunate enough right now to be able to order huge quantities in 1 order. I order smaller amounts more often. It's bad enough to pay the shipping multiple times a year but more understandable than this flippin new tax they've added. Basically I gotta kick up a pound of tobacco every order to get my usual. That may not sound like a lot to some. But it's causing me issues all across the board. Sorry to be complaining but this is wrong man. 1000001044.jpg

Don't know where you reside so can't comment specifically. Some folks are smoking when, apparently, they, self-admittedly, can't really afford to. Sad that is but, "Life's a bitch and then you die." You've made your choice, a luxury to be sure, now ... you either reevaluate your choice or live with the consequences. Seems simple enough. Luxuries are a personal choice. You really have only yourself to blame with regards to paying such taxes.

Ok. Wiseass. I'll blame myself for having to pay 25 percent more for something I've bought for years. Has nothing to do with choices. Has to do with the government gouging people that's barely making it. It's all of our fault. We should all blame ourselves for an unwarranted increase. Whatever Dude!

If a luxury becomes too expensive for you then you should either quit or cut back. There was nothing he said that was being a wise ass. This is nothing but a hobby.

Did both of you guys see the picture that I attached to the post? Take another look. Then look again
Don't complain. If you want to smoke a pipe then pay the prices. I've paid excise on all of my orders. I accept that it is a luxury good and that it is unhealthy so the government will add on an extra tax to dissuade purchase. Again if you cannot afford it then cut back or quit. This is an expensive hobby like cigars.

See. This is what part of the problem is. People like these two, see nothing wrong with the government taxing and taxing and taxing us. It has nothing to do with being able to afford it. It has to do with it stealing money from Americans. Cause that's what it is.

You’ve been here for 3 days and you’re already coming at established members with both barrels blazing.
This is a very bad look, new guy.

Also, if you can’t take the heat (taxes), get out the kitchen (tobacco buying).
It truly is that simple.

I’m guessing that he didn’t know the PCA is lobbying a few states a year to collect excise tax on online purchases to level the playing field for the B&M shops they represent.

My home state of Wisconsin started collecting 71% of the wholesale price Jan 1st.

The excise tax on pipe tobacco in Indiana is 24%. It's been around for a while now.

Effective July 1, 2023, the State of Indiana is imposing an excise tax on all tobacco products sold to Indiana customers. Cigars and pipe tobacco will be taxed at 24% of the wholesale purchase price.

Luckily I have addresses in three different states to send tobacco to. I don’t agree with tax hikes on anything unless it appears warranted and fair to the people. Collecting 71% on tobacco while only collecting around 15% excise on alcohol when alcohol kills more people seems unjust BUT I can’t do anything about it but complain. I shouldn’t have to choose to give up my luxury activity or pay outrageous taxes because the government gouges. Or should I?

If you want to continue a luxury hobby then you'll pay the price and accept the consequences. Excise tax is used as a deterrent to activities.
