Experience with Humidification Disks

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone uses the humidification disks (either the stainless steel ones with clay inside or the little clay leaves) inside the tins or plastic containers pipe tobacco comes in. I don’t really want to use mason jars as this would be a simpler method at least for me. I’m also in a micro apartment and I don’t want to knock the glass jars over (it’s really small in here lol).

Both styles of humidification disks are really for short term use only. Think, tobacco pouches on the go. You would be forever soaking them if you tried to use them for long term cellaring. Mylar bags would be a better solution for your needs and take up far less space.

I have a small humidor that I can keep about 12 C&D type tins in along with a Brigham Crystal Humidification jar. It works fine for me and one thing I found out was that taking the paper liner and paper lids out of the tin and having just the tobacco in the tin it did not dry out as fast.

I have used the metal ones and clay. Both work fine. I pop them in if tobacco is getting dry. Yes, they are for short term, but that could be a year.

Latakia blends will corrode the metal ones and will heavily scent the clay ones. I use clays and dedicate some to English blends.

I live in the desert and I use Bovida packs in my bagidor. I think Bovida is way more consistent than other, beads, clay, foam systems.
