Whatever it retailed for, anything more is just a bonus. Never gamble on pipes and tobacco as an investment.

I've done well with pipe tobacco and cigars gaining value over time. While one can't build an empire out of it, I wish I would've bought 10-20 boxes of Cohiba cigars 8 years ago. I wouldn't be wealthy, but the gf and I would get to go on a nice vacation, gratis.

When a "good deal" comes along on a tobacco I like I've been taking advantage of it. At my current rate of consumption, which is about 10 average size bowls a day, I figure I have between a 7 and 10 year supply. And yet, for some reason, I feel compelled to keep buying. If someone asked me how much is enough, my answer would be "more". cray

It depends. I smoked a lot of aged gawith blends. If I had proof it would taste and smoke the same, I'd spend 30$ on a pre 2006 tin of those blends.

But I'd be happy to sell any 9f those tins at online auction prices. It was good what I smoked. But if someone wanted to basically trade a 50 gram tin of fifa for the cost of a Peterson irish army as sellers think it's worth...

I'd have alot of pipes

I just couldn't do it. I'd give then away first.

I hear you. Almost no one I know smoked a pipe, but I know quite a few cigar smokers, and in my personal life, nearly my whole collection is available if someone wants to smoke one. When I visit with people, I bring the best I have ready to share, with a couple meh cigars for the casually curious.

I've never bought with the intent of selling, but found aged sticks and boxes in my collection have appreciated nicely in price, especially those now-discontinued.
