Try Cornell & Diehl's Pirate Kake. I find it to be similar to Penzance, but a tad milder and much more budget friendly. :puffy:

If you're thinking Lakeland and English, Squadron Leader is the first that comes to my mind. Wasn't sure about the lakeland character at first, but it's turned out to be one of my favorite English blends.

I really enjoy Sam Gawith's Balkan Flake ( no its not technically a Balkan ). Its a bit one dimensional but that one dimension is great.
Also Robert McConnell's Latakia Flake is excellent.
The GLP range is all good - Caravan and Odyssey are my favorite Balkan's in the range

Try Chelsea Morning and Gaslight from GL Pease. Gaslight is full and Chelsea Morning is a little more delicate. Add Meridian in the middle and my latakia cravings are basically sated.

You might like Charles Fairmorn Lancer's Slices and/or MacBaren Latakia Flake. I know I did!

Thanks for the opinions. I just ordered some Gaslight, Samarra, Blackpoint, Star of the East Flake, Ten Russians, and Balkan Flake. Thus ends my wild 3 week TAD spree. I at least tripled my cellar. Now for the wait...

I'm nearly at the end of the tin of GL Pease's Westminster I got several weeks ago from Andy Stewart

and it has (with many hours of consideration) become a firm favourite.

I love the broad cut of this tobacco, it makes for a much nicer, far more satisfying smoke than

the thin, ribbon cut English blends I am accustomed to.
Please tell me that there are tobaccos like this readily available in British pipe shops.
Surely there's at least one.
Please.

#17 Arango Cigar Company "Balkan Supreme" (Winner)
This won the best english blend at the chicago pipe show 2014, I was lucky enough to smoke a bowl of it with a forum member here, it's great stuff, well balanced and the orientals really have a sweetness that shines through.
