I'm just saying that if you inhale a little bit it will open up the passage between the nose and mouth.

Actually, I believe the opposite is true. Exhale from the mouth and inhale through your nose to get the same experience that others around you will smell and you also get the taste as well.

Just an update, I tried some of the suggestions posted here and I think I got it to work a couple of times, but the only problem was that I tried doing this Haddos Delight, a pretty perique forward blend, and the sensation really burned my throat. The nose exhale was interesting, tingled a lot and brought tears to my eyes, but it definitely brought some interesting aromas and flavors. Ill have to keep experimenting with this, but thanks to all you fellas for your suggestions and tips. Its really been helpful. This is why I love this community so much.

I've tried all of the ^ suggestions and can't figure it out. I won't swalow smoke b/c I know that sensation from smoking cigarettes years ago and I didn't enjoy it. But thanks for the input guys and I'm with Eric, that is what makes this place great.

Haddos exhaled through the nose is mind blowing. Feels like someone punched you in the face with a bag of figs, raisins, dates, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, black pepper and chocolate. And then threw a glass of red wine in your face just for good measure.

G L Pease posted an article by Paul Szabady on Breath Smoking, which may be helpful (if slightly off topic.)
Cortez, I actually read that article here not too long ago and kind of saw some advice in there that might be helpful, but felt that he didnt address the issue specifically. I am going to practice more when I get home tonight and let you guys know how it goes.

OK, I feel that it is time to put this thread to bed. Thanks to several of the above suggestions, I have found a way to efficiently exhale through the nose. I have to say that Haddos exhaled through the nose is pretty intense, a lot of peppery flavor and not much else, at least that I can tell. However, I tried smoking some Villiger 1888 Mid Day, and when I exhaled through the nose, it was nothing short of fantastic. A wonderful sort of vanilla, caramel, and maybe a bit of chocolate and fruity scent filled my nose and was wonderful. I am really excited to see what other blends feel like smoking this way. I cannot thank you guys enough for your support and suggestions in helping me with this exciting new step in my smoking journey. As Dave and I both said, that is what makes this such a great place to be a part of. I will post further updates once I have tried a few more blends, but again guys, seriously, thank you so much.

I've seen a pretty good video on youtube that talks about 'retro-haling' as he describes it. Just google 'cigar retro-haling video' and it should pop up.

Use your tongue to push the smoke to the back of your throat and it will go down your "wind pipe". The key to keeping it out of your lungs is to not move your diaphragm so your lungs do not change size. The smoke has only one place to go and that is out your nose. I do that subconsciously but think the lower oxygen levels due to lower air exchange causes the nic hits to be worse.
