I get it. Smoking bad. If you don't think anything beyond this exists then there's no need to read on.
As for the rest, why can't we help a new generation min/max it like every other nuanced hobby?
Off the top of my head, how is heavy smoking and the onset of cancer (say, 5 bowls a day) affected by lengthy breaks (say, over a month)? If cancer is repeated exposure over time, does giving the body time to heal have any effect here? Genetics aside, is it a sunless well that builds up and inevitably overflows, or is it an outdoors well with direct sunlight where evaporation happen?
If there was proof suggesting that I could smoke 5 bowls a day followed by a nice break, rather than dancing around a scant 1 bowl per day, I'd surely prefer the first.
Now you might say, we have all the studies we need, it's the same as cigarettes... Right. Because cigarette smokers can smoke for hours a day and then stop for a month at will only to repeat that cycle without any sort of psychological or physical trauma... I smoked quite a bit the first two weeks I got my pipe trying all the new blends, but I've taken a three day break right now and am not sure when I'm even going to smoke again, I have been busy and just haven't gotten around to it.
What do you think? Is it even worth it? I feel like the pursuit of knowledge is always worth it to some extent, a gentlemanly obligation.
