I had an amusing thought: Does Allan seriously think the sailors who introduced pipe smoking to Eurasia and pioneered stuff like flakes didn't swear? Swearing and pipe smoking are two of the biggest stereotypes about pipe smokers, I don't think people are going to hear some YTPC member use a few naughty words and will get a negative image of pipe smoking, but seeing pretentious pseudo-intellectuals gatekeep it sure might.
