I sold a really neat Kaywoodie back in the day before I realized that you needed to deoxidize stems, regret selling that one. Also sold a very large straight grain Bjarne that was probably worth a good bit more than I sold it for, but just didn't now enough at the time.

Only one I really regret selling was a 2003 Dunhill Tanshell 5103 Cavalier that was unsmoked. I don't know why, but I really liked that pipe and style of cavalier.

First of all, I am not one of those people who clings to the "no regrets" idea. People with no regrets have

little or no imagination (in many cases). Regrets are part of the machinery by which we do better next time.

However, with pipes, I feel content with the pipes I have traded or given away. There was a reason in each

case, that usually led to a better pipe. I gave some pipes to a former chain smoker of Luckies who wanted

them as decor for his bachelor pad; they were not favorite smokers, but I didn't think I could get much

in trade and wouldn't throw them out. So all is well. In the cases of the pipes I traded, I hope I learned to

make better choices in the future. I deal mostly in the low to mid level price pipes, and it is my joy to get

a lot of good smoking at modest prices, which requires work and thought, and for me, is the sport.

My sentiments exactly. Pipes sold are merely stepping stones to more desirable pieces.
