Realizing the F&T Cut Virginia Plug I've been smoking has aged for 7 years i figured why not buy some fresh to see how it fares against the aged one.
So off to Google to find out which Internet pipe smoking sellers carry it.
I found 7 and 6 had the Out of Stock blazoned across it. The last one showed it had stock so I placed 10 in my cart and was told, Not enough stock for your cart, so I dropped down to 8, same thing as did 6, when I hit 5 I was greeted with checkout. I bet there are a lot of tobacco's sellers stocks facing the same scenario.
So I loaded the first Comoy I ever bought, a vintage 3 section C Sandblast Pot and filled it with the aged tobacco I'm writing about.

I read all the reviews about this tobacco and after trying it in different shaped pipes I found the flavor profile on the palate to vary a bit, some bowls muted the spiciness and others the citrusy tang but the pot was the best all around performance thus far with this tobacco so I dug out one of my Ehrlich pot's to see if I get the same results and if I do this tobacco, while good in all the pipes I smoked it in thus far, truly sang in the pot shape so now it will be dedicated to that shape. Keeping it smokey.

The Ehrlich agreed with the findings with the Comoy and it had a bit more intensity as well being a group 3 compared to a tight group 2 of the Comoy.

John,

The Tobacco Reviews on it are all over the place which is why I didn't open right off. When smoking it in my cob it's mild, has a little citrus not but the spiciness is there, when I smoked it in the Olivewood by Nate King it had a bit more body but then I thought it may be the Olivewood giving it some additional flavor being it was never smoked. I tried it in one of my well aged briars and that as a billiard and it woke the citrus up a bit with the back note being the spiciness and the tobacco not quite medium in strength
Here is where I got the idea to try different pipe shapes and I had the Comoy and Ehrlich pots out for today's rotation so I grabbed the Comoy first and the tobacco came alive in flavor, got some hay and definitely medium body on the tobacco, the citrus opened up and the spiciness was lessened a tad, when I went to the Ehrlich it sort of evened out the citrus and spiciness and the tobacco was a full medium in flavor, I think the group 3 bowl was responsible for that.
I really like this tobacco and I did purchase 5 tins and want to revisit this testing when they arrive and try to not smoke anymore of this tin to have enough of a supply for my testing, hope that helped.

CVp is one of my all time favorite pipe tobaccos. Fresh it is delicious, it is smooth, mild, nicely rounded and a joy to smoke. After 10 years the tobacco turns jet black and takes on some big time raisin and fig type flavors that are as addiction as can be. It was one of the first flakes I fell in love with back around 2000. I am bummed I only have one 2001 tin left, it is the old triangle shape. I have a ton of these tins waiting to be aged with my oldest being 2012 stock.

This is one of my favourite blends. But I bet the engineering of particular pipe may be overwhelming ... though shape does matter.

This was one of the first flakes that I tried. I did a trade with Harris back in the day and he sent me a sample of this and some others. I instantly fell in love. Thankfully that was before many of the great flakes started getting harder to get. I've got about 30 tins aging in the cellar. And as Banjo suggests I have found a big pot shaped pipe to let flakes really shine. Mine is a Charatan.
