Think about it this way ... suppose you had purchased an old wallet for a few bucks from an old widow, and later found a folded fifty stuck deeply inside it. Obviously neither party knew it was there. I think sharing the good fortune works, whether it be cash or some type of gift.
I don't know about you, but as I get older and older, I find myself trying to be more generous with everything from real philanthropy (donations to a local university, church, other charities), to the girls scouts to how I tip at restaurants. Guess I am facing up to the fact that I will have to answer for my decisions, and have also discovered there is a lot of joy to be had in helping others. While this is not a charity case, I just get a feeling that you will feel good about returning some of the extra benefit that you received.
