Keep in mind, when someone purchases a pipe and loads tobacco in it, the second they apply fire and puff on it, it has become an estate pipe.
That's half right. As soon as they are purchased from a retailer or vendor they become an estate. They don't have to be smoked.

I can't find no estate pipe here be it at the local antique shops or flee market but where I did was on Ebay and smokingpies.com.The latter hasn't let me down no once, mainly because those folks sure do know what they doing and so do I.

Lots of great estate pipes (and plenty of junk too). Check out some podcasts like pipe magazine radio and Country Squire for decent brands, scout out piped.com also. Ebay has plenty, and if you are choosy you can get something decent for a decent price, although you will likely need to clean it up (check the pictures and descriptions closely for cracks and banged up stems). Smoking pipes sells some quality ones that they have inspected and cleaned up. Good way to get a premium pipe at a better price than a new pipe, and potentially carry forward some history.

I've come across a Savinelli Antique Shell (514 KS) which I like the shape of. It's in good conditioning with only minor chamber carbonizing. It's listed for $50

If it's on smokingpipes, grab it. That's a bargain!
BTW, pappy, worry not, I won't have an infarct. I just hadn't thought of S&G in forever. They made some good stuff, I'm told. Never had the opportunity to see on in the, er, briar. Lucky you -- that's beautiful, as are the others.

Episode 284 of the Pipes Magazine Radio Show is a GREAT break down of the estate pipe market.
There are many ways to get them. Some estate dealers have Etsy shops or Ebay accounts. Pipe shows are a great place to pick up estate pipes. Sometimes the sellers will do show specials. Then there's places like SmokingPipes that are great for estate pipes. They have a very good restoration department and run pretty good prices on them.
I've been on an estate pipe kick this year. Picked up a Silver Gray and a Pete Prevost at excellent price points. That's why estates are a good way to go. You can typically get some really good pipes at a reduced price.
You can run into some problems in the estate market. Sellers not knowing what they have. Not knowing the market value of the pipe and actually overpaying for it. I would highly suggest listening to the Radio Show episode to help with it.

It is and I just grabbed it up. I was ordering some tobacco from there anyways and checked their estate pipes and saw that one. I liked the look so figured I'd ask.

You're going to have a good experience, I think. They do very professional work & ship quickly. They're near Myrtle Beach, on the far side of the state from me. When I ordered my Preben Holm I got off the phone at about 2:00 in the afternoon & it was delivered by 4:00 the next day.
BTW, for you *&* buster, I apologize -- I should included goodenoughpipes on my eBay list; good seller, & *very* reasonable prices!

Soap and water on the stem with bristle pipe cleaners through the airway, and alcohol with bristle pipe cleaners on the stummel.

That’s a great shape! Perfect starter pipe for your plunge in to proper smoking. Congrats.

I had a great time in my first yrs of pipe smoking since acquiring a Legend at the drug store in 2014.

I've reeled in a turd or two, but I never spend more than a few bucks, unless I can see that it's worth more.
Here are 8 I got from one seller, in two auctions, and the total money spent was about $11.00 per pipe including shipping.

Every one of them smokes like a charm. You can get lucky if you take the time. My problem is that I had retired, had more time than ever, and was getting all excited about pipes. I've slowed the PAD WAY down, and can hardly do justice to the ones I have, as far a smoking frequency.

I’ve been trying a variety

I have a couple pipes dedicated to aoromatics-cult blood red moon, and a Boswell sampler...definitely like pipers pleasure and bear blend

For the other pipes mostly english blends dunhill morning pipe, boswell countryside and northwoods, GL Pease westminster asnd gaslight, frogmorton celler, Dunhill Durbar, Ye Olde Signe
