Thanks for pointing out this thoroughly enjoyable article. After reading it, and relating to it in some ways,

I was surprised to see how old it was (despite your thread title). Yet it still seemed timely and relevant.

The author correctly foresaw a Renaissance in pipe smoking -- especially among collegians -- but I don't think the

price of pipes has increased as insanely as he predicted.

shoulda bought those Dunhills in 1997.or in 1977 even better. Too old to speculate for the future now. Interesting read. :puffy:

Great find Kevin and a good article too. I remember the cigar craze of the 90s. Everyone and their mother was lighting up a cigar but they just didn't excite me the way pipes do now. I guess I needed more paraphernalia!

I saw that last year, an interesting article. Do you think CNN promotes any kind of smoking today, too PC now, so that is doubtful.
I missed the era of $75 Dunill estates.....
