So basically I bought this Guildhall pipe and when I looked inside there was something wrong with the place where the wood that stops the mortise normally is. I cant tell if thats the way the pipe was or if someone broke it. Am I gonna have problems?image.jpg

need More pics. Was there a metal stinger still attached to the vulcanite stem/ bit? Many Guildhall pipes tend to have one, unless it was removed by a former owner.

From that one pic my first guess would be that part of the stinger is stuck inside the shank.

Very difficult to judge anything based on that pic, and that’s a very difficult angle to capture clearly.

If it’s a straight pipe and you put a flashlight on the bowl, can you see light passing through the hole in the neck?
