Not sealed and the only thing stamped on the tub is FC03 on the bottom. It does have the barcode but not sure if that helps with dating. The tobacco is dry but does not turn to dust.Great find! I like those old pipe racks, very classy. Is the SWR tub still sealed, is it dated?
Gigis are a favorite of mine! Lucky!!Just got back from another day of yard sale hunting. Came across a box with all this inside and got it for $20. Haven't cataloged all the pipes yet, but did notice a Dunhill shell briar and some Sasieni 4 dot pipes as well as a Gigi.View attachment 147889
I just started looking at yard sales a couple weeks ago. Found some nice rods and reels yesterday and just decided to head out again today. Was amazed when I came across these. Some of the bowls on a couple pipes are completely burned through on the front. I might be able to top the bowls to about 1/2 way down and just have a couple tasting pipes with the replacement stems. A couple of the stems have been chewed through on one side, but should be able to fix those myself. Some of those pipes without stems might fix up too, if you cut stems, or you could have them done "for a song," maybe $30 apiece.
You can think of the whole group as your Memorial Day '22 pipes. For the price of one up-market tin of pipe tobacco.
Do you often scour the yard sales and antique shops or were you drawn there by the pipe gods? You were definitely in the zone that day. You might want to frame and hang the photo of them all in their original condition. It's a pipe guys dream.
