Esoterica's Stonehaven and Germain's RDF - A Side-by-Side Comparison

I don't experience the spicy characteristic. What I notice is an additional topping scent like a good beer or ale, a bit of tanginess, that doesn't exist with Stonehaven. Stonehaven is pretty straightforward chocolate and raisins. RDF is that, and more. Both share the treacle topping that tends to make them non identical twins.

I don't get any spiciness either.
I think you're on to something about the additional topping,

and perhaps the treacle casing seemed more prominent on RDF.
I'd say that RDF is the more complex smoke of the twins,

somehow more nuanced,

but I prefer SH simply because of the bigger body.

A bit of a change of mind here. I got some fresh stonehaven and smoked 2 bowls in succession; stonehaven followed by RDF. My take on it is that stonehaven is a much smoother blend without any harshness. RDF was a bit harsher and not as deep as stonehaven. I thought earlier the depth of flavour was due to the age of the stonehaven I smoked but both my RDF and SH are young.
The search continues for more stonehaven but RDF is respectable substitute.

I have not yet enjoyed RDF but think Stonehaven is very pleasant. Those who want to try a great VaBur would not be disappointed with Solani ABF, but yes, Stonehaven and RDF are a bit unique due to the treacle topping.
