I was told by a retailer I trusted that Germain only has 6 employees and they don't give a shit about how much they produce. I am betting these people couldn't care less about their business model.

When I bought all my Esoterica in 2012, bags were 35.00 per. I have no idea what the retail price is now, but I bet it isn't much more than back then. When you don't care about supply and demand you make what you want and that is all that is made.

One of my businesses was an up scale pool hall. I had 19 full size 9 foot tables made of solid oak and with leather drop pockets. I couldn't add anymore tables as the place was packed as it was. I would have had to get rid of tenants on the right and left of me. I thought about it every time their lease came up for renewal. I didn't know if I got rid of one of the tenants would I make that back up in more pool hall money. I didn't take the risk as I had my highest per sq ft tenants on either side of me and I just didn't want to take the risk.

I had the pet hospital paying me around $32 per sq ft and on the other side I had half of the Christian book store next to me and they would have left as they needed all the room they had. Could I have filled all that space with pool hall customers? I don't know but business was great so why tempt the business gods and start getting greedy.

I just kept thinking to myself my dad's favorite saying," Bulls and bears make money.....but pigs get slaughtered. I didn't want to get slaughtered . Yes I might not have made enough from the pool hall and yeah I could have re rented the spaces, but would I get the high rentals I was getting. My real estate was maxed out as was my pool hall so why get greedy? Many years later the most popular road in Rhode Island was losing tenants like crazy. It used to take me a month or 2 to fill a space, the last place I filled took over a year. I sold the plaza back in 2017 and it was the smartest move I could have made.

It may turn out that Germains should have made more product or they might just quit the game with what they have and say I am retiring.

I don't care what you guys say. To me, Stonehaven is the finest VaBur available anywhere. There's nothing I've tasted that compares (well, there is one, but it's also hard to get and I am still stocking up on it so for now I will keep that opinion to myself puffy ) and I have all I need. Most of my purchases were at retail but I admit buying off the scalpers market too for pre-aged bags.

Is anyone saying Stonehaven is dog ? except for Duane? ? I mean it’s certainly not my favorite, but definitely far away from the worst bend I’ve smoked. And, you go ahead and get all you can afford…I’ll take the Dorchester & Dunbar. ?☕

Stonehaven is a PITA. There's a small range of moisture where it really opens up and delivers everything in the bag note, raisins, chocolate, etc. Fail to hit it and it's a really dead smoke. Also, the quality varies significantly from batch to batch. Dunno why. Maybe it's part of its British charm, like when Britbox decides I've watched enough and kicks me off.
But when the stars align it is one of the most enjoyable smokes I've experienced, Its kissing cousin, Rich Dark Flake is another terrific smoke. I've got some that's 8 years old that I'm going to smoke if I can remember where the hell I put it.

You hit on it. I’ve smoked some really delicious Stonehaven in the past, and some that was Meh. RDF is definitely a favorite of mine, unfortunately it is tough to come by of late. Hopefully that changes, but I’ll not hold my breath. ☕

I recently finished smoking a pound of 2007 Stonehaven. I have 2 more to go and then I will start smoking the 2009 stash. Most of my bags are from 2012 but I have enough other aged stuff to keep me in business till I get to the 2012. Probably 5-8 years or so. I have 2009,2010,2011 which should get me to where I want my stash to be.

I finally figured out the correct moisture and the size of the flakes so the fold and stuff works great with this blend.
