After an initial rough start, Escudo Navy Deluxe is growing on me. Would love to find a comparable VaPer in bulk availability/pricing. How does it compare to Stokkebye Luxury Bullseye or Luxury Navy? (I realize there is Cav in th Bullseye)
If not well, other suggestions? I'm a bit new to VaPers, but guessing I'd like the Perique lighter than stronger.

Ditto what Roth said. While I have never consciously made the comparison, it occurs to me that 4noggins' Weybridge

is similar to Escudo -- despite the presence of Burley. At the very least, I'll say that if you like Escudo, you'll probably like

Weybridge at least as much. The next time you place an order with 4noggins, ask Rich for a sample. Better yet, just dive

right in and buy some. It's really good.

Oh my! I almost overlooked a bulk that is a close match for Escudo (one really has to do side-by-side comparisons to be certain, but...)

Give Altadis Match for Dunhill Elizabethan a try. It isn't a flake or coin cut either, but a very good VaPer nonetheless. Also, I think I heard a rumor that the original Elizabethan will be coming out again.
ps. Ditto on the Prairie Wind recommendation. It's one of my favorites. It is, however, at the dark fruit-like end of the VaPer spectrum, whereas Escudo, et al. reside toward the grassy side.

There is no substitute for Escudo. I have smoked the PS offerings and while they are a decent smoke, they are not in the same league. If you want the preeminent bulk Vapor, in my opinion it is Samuel Gawith St James Flake. It costs anywhere from 58-64 a pound and it is a great blend that I enjoy quite often.
If you buy Escudo from smokingpipes at 25 tins at a wack, the cost per pound is 80.18 for Escudo. Now a pound of the PS is 29 per pound but if you break it down to cost per bowl, the Escudo will cost you .70 cents where the PS will cost you .16 based on a 4 gram bowl. So will .54 cents 2 or 3 times a week alter your lifestyle in any way? I personally would rather smoke something I love and not settle smoking something that is just ok. Life is too short to smoke just ok tobacco when you can afford the very best. Now if you want to save a little then the St James is .52 cents per bowl based on a 60.00 a pound price. A 4 gram bowl of flake usually lasts me 1.5 to 2 hours, so even at .70 cents, where am I going to get that much enjoyment for that kind of coin? When you break it all down, it really does not cost that much to smoke the very best.

There is only ONE Escudo ;-) I got a pound of LBF, there was something about it (the sweetness perhaps) that I didn't care for at the time...I have put it into jars and will wait another 5-6 years to see how she does :puffy:

I personally love PS LBF. To me it hits a lot of the right notes. Now I am not the most experienced pipe smoker, but PS LBF does give a very satisfying smoke.

Everyone else's answers echoes my own opinion.
But ditto on the Prairie Wind. I have a few constant Va/Pers/Cavs open at once, but I'm not always in the mood to smoke them.
I'm always in the mood to smoke Prairie Wind. I still think it's topped with something, but by no means don't let that distract you. It's cool, sweet/sour, and feels great when snorked out of your nose. It's a fantastic bulk blend.
I'd like to try Weybridge but I'm really having problems with anything with Burley in it anymore.
