Confirmed by our man at GH - brown flake is the base for Ennerdale. He also recommends Brown Flake No.2.

I never would have guessed it, but I was smoking some Brown Flake U/S last night and it did seem lighter/brighter than I remembered.

I haven't smoked either in a long time - I'm intrigued now so have just ordered some!

Love Best brown #2 and Bright CR flake, Bright CR flake definitely has some of that almond floral flavor, but it's not a full on assault, it's similar with BB#2, it's an in the background thing. BB#2 is what got me into the lakeland flavor but I still haven't tried a full on lakeland like ennerdale. Kendal Flake is another good one by G&H but it's more of a citrus flavor to me.

I'm no expert, but I do smoke a lot of GH tobaccos. I smoke a lot of Ennerdale. At first I hated it too... but for some odd reason, I kept going back to it and decided that I do love it. Bob's Chocolate Flake was mentioned. I think that is a great one for you to try. BB2 is good also. I say try them both. Don't worry. BCF isn't really chocolatey. I find it to be more "velvety" to smoke.

I don't much care for the typical Lakeland taste at all, with one exception, already mentioned - Bob's Chocolate. The floral/soapy taste is still present, but somehow or other the overall taste just works for me.
