Completely forgot it was IPSD...
Should have had something planned.
Maybe if we tell our wives it's a holiday we'll get something special right?
Right?

Happy International Pipe Smoking Day, or as I call it Thursday. Sorry, I smoke a pipe everyday. :) It's going to be Westminster, Blackpoint, Maltese Falcon or Pirate Kake because that's what I have open right now. Happy puffing, all.

I just got home from our ISPD event in West Virginia (Charles Town). Several members from the PipeSmokersForums were there and we had a blast. The venue was the "Smoking Head" which had a great lounge we had all to ourselves. Everyone brought tobacco to try and I was able to sample a few blends that were new to me. One guy even brought some Semois, which was very interesting (but not my cup of tea). The owner had food and drinks, so it was quite an evening.

Big thanks to Victory Cigars and Brigham Pipes for hosting IPSD celebrations for all of us. There was a great assortment of Chacom POTY and "Great Dane" inspired Stanwells, along with other fun tools, tampers and trays all marked down for the occasion. Everyone who attended was gifted Brigham cleaners and a Brigham pipe tool, there were great door prizes. My favourite part of the night was watching the 20 something cigar guy who won a Chacom starter kit sit down with one of the Smokestack Codgers to learn how to load a bowl for the first time. He was SO proud, and enjoyed his first bowl(s) very much. I loaded his tobacco pouch with Granger in the hopes that he'll make a habit of piping.
Here is a picture of the pipes and gear on offer:

Happy IPSD folks.

Just got off a 14 hour day so I'm deliberating on which pipe and which tobacco to go with. Looks like many of you are having a good one...keep it up.

Ah yes, IPSD... started off with some Erinmore in my good old Duncan Hill Areosphere, then relaxed with my wife and some friends on the porch in the late afternoon with a bowl of Vermont Meat Candy in my Ciro Morta, and am now enjoying a small bowl of Luxury Twist Flake in a new (old) Dr. Plumb dublin. My first time with the Dr. Plumb, and it is a great looking pipe, but has the weirdest stinger in it I have ever seen! Looks like some kind of catalytic converter, and is so long it goes into the bowl. I normally don't like stingers, but this was so strange, I had to try it. Overall, not too bad, but as usual, can't run a pipe cleaner through it, but no gurgle though. I'll try it later on without the stinger. Doing lots of smoking today, even my wife is having fun with her old Stanwell and some Trout Stream. Great day!

Hope everyone is having a good smoking experience today, and well, every day for that matter! Cheers! :D
