Getting ready to place another tobacco order and am looking for suggestions.

I would like to try an English and a Virginia tobacco. Really need something with more "kick". I am currently smoking a few different blends and have yet to find the "Nic kick" and flavor I am looking for.

It's not the most typical of English style but Dunhill's Nightcap has a nice mellow bit of N (and it's delicious to boot). As far as Virginia's with a bit of kick, then why not a nice Brown or Black rope from G&H or Sam Gawaith? They have a serious N kick. For a less extreme option, then something like SG FVF is another solid option with a decent kick.

I can't think of too many strong ready to go straight Virginias but there are any number of ready to go VaPers (Hal o' the Wynd, McConnell's Scottish Cake, Three Friars, etc. that come to mind). The more I think of those "strong" non-flake VaPers, they all seem to have a touch of burley in them.
But I stand by the Nightcap....

For a good "nic hit" I would suggest almost anything from C&D. Craig Stark Blend has been my latest English from C&D, certainly packs a wallop and is ready to smoke as is. I also grabbed some of their Sweet English, but that has a subtle caramel flavoring. I have been smoking MCClellands 5100 red cake Virginia, which tastes like bread to me, has a loose ribbon cut, but has a much lower nicotine dose.

Burley has the highest nicotine content, go with a predominantly burley blend, they are delicious.

Another vote for Nightcap, it's really the first thing in high-n "English" blends and a good place to start an then move on from. Plus it's just great.

For a good English blend try GL Pease's Westminister or Dunhill's London Mixture. For a Virginia tobacco try Dunhill's Flake, Samuel Gawith's Full Virginia Flake, Orlik's Golden Slices or McClelland's Mature Virginia No. 24.
Don't be afraid of a Virginia flake tobacco since you can rub out the flakes into cakes or even thinner into bits. Flakes yield a more natural tasting tobacco. For something on the light side try McClelland's Virginia 5100 in bulk.
Good luck with your pipe smoking experience.

Nightcap is a good suggestion. For the maximum nicotine, as suggested above, smoke burley. I keep some 4 Noggins Button Bay burley for nicotine. Silly name, but a great tobacco and a low price, bulk.

+1 on the Sam Gawith, since you don't want flakes or cakes I'd recommend Squadron Leader or Commonwealth Mixture. There's something nice about how Gawith treats their VA's.
Also, it's not a straight anything, but GL Pease's Haddo's Delight is tasty and has a decent kick to it. Also, the Jackknife Ready Rubbed is pretty solid. VA's and Kentucky in this one. Solid smoke.
Happy smoking!
