English/Latakia tobaccos are amazing at the right time. I can't see myself only smoking English mixtures as Latakia is certainly the Omega of pipe tobaccos. G.L. Pease, Samuel Gawith and Germain's are my favorite. One exception is Latakia mixtures that have a topping or too much casing, my taste buds find them revolting.

I guess one question is how many pipes a day does the OP smoke and are they all the same blend?

I started with English blends and typical smoke 4 or 5 pipes a day but they are usually different blends and will include English, Oriental and other styles; even the odd aromatic. I typically have 4 or 5 tins of tobacco open at a time.

The only consistency at the moment is that my first pipe of the day is usually filled with Chelsea Morning and my last pipe of the day is usually filled with Key Largo (I say usually, probably 80% of the time, but occasionally I'll fancy something else).

I also love Laphroaig...
When I started it was 4 pipes a day. MM965, Maltese Falcon, Match 20, Plum Pudding and Mississippi River is all I was smoking. But mostly the first 3.

I’m actually asking because I have read there is plenty of people that have gone through the same thing I am experiencing. I am simply asking if the love comes back. That question is for the smoker that has gone through this.
I guess I didn't do a good job of making my point.
This has not happened to me, but the question gets asked here on a regular basis. I think it safe to say that the answer is "maybe".

You made your point. And if it hasn't happened to you than the question is not for you. I've never seen any posts asking that question , should I run a search next time? sure, but I asked anyways.

I have also lost the taste for Latakia, and quite quickly too. I find it now completely takes over anything it's in, a bit like giving up sugar in your coffee. Once you go back to adding sugar, it's all you can taste. The trouble is I love orientals, but there aren't many Virginia/Oriental blends in the UK that don't have any latakia in them.

Will the taste come back? Who knows. I think as your tastebuds get more 'practice' with things they change and adjust, so I am doubtful. I'll try a latakia blend again one day, but I don't hanker for it. Also, Latakia seems to ghost a pipe like nobody's business!

I was beginning to think that maybe I had too many English/Latakia/Balkan blends in my cellar -- and even contemplating regret! -- and then I read the latest GL Pease article on this site (about rediscovery of his Latakia-ophile roots). I realized then that I still get a regular jones for that leathery, spicy, campfire taste if I haven't had it in about 3 days. Yeah, I can still get a little burnt out from it at times, but a short break always sets me right!

As time goes on, I prefer straight Virginia more than anything else, however as soon as I read about Latakia burnout, I started pacing my consumption of English and Balkan blends. I still love em and aim to keep it that way! Burning a bowl of some ~10-15 year Dunhill 965 at the moment and it is perfect. The Latakia isn't so front and center, like with a newer Peterson 965 I tried.

Depends on the blend for me. I love the Eso english blends. I think aging them properly before tinning is essential.

Relativity, present and future, analysis and patience. I would not hesitate to buy a few kilos of plum pudding from you, if I were near your area. I seem to remember that you have an excellent cellar, my friend eljimmy. Who knows, as some folks here say, maybe in 5 or 15 years my damn tongue and nose will end up hating these blends. I hope not.

I cellared quite a bit of various English blends. I probably have enough to last me forever at this point, and I don't find myself rushing to try all the new small batch English blends. I somehow convinced myself that I don't care for English blends anymore and that all I want are Burley, vabur, or vapers. But once a month or so I'll pack a bowl of Westminster or Star of the East Flake and love it.

Some individuals palate changes or "rotates" throughout the year as the seasons change. Maybe you are in that group.

I seem to desire different blends in that seasonal fashion, but I also tend to mix it up enough that I'm not exclusive to Lat only blends.

I believe that is what happened. I literally had all English blends in the beginning.

Like anything - tastes change with mood, time of year... I love English blends, but don't touch them much in the warmer weather. Every now and then I'll find myself packing a size 5 bowl with some Night Cap (or the like) and it just feels right.
