Try Sillem's Black ( I haven't smoked any in awhile, have to break

out a bowl of her tomorrow AM w/coffee to see if those "feels like the

1st time" tastes are still there...it was one of my intro smokes into

the world of great English and Balkan blends.
From the Tin;

Extravagant is the right word to characterize this mixture.

We have revolutionized the traditional old English art of blending.

The main ingredient is the finest spicy smoky Latakia. By adding

highly aromatic Black Cavendish, this blend becomes smoother.

A small portion of Burley gives a slight toasted aroma, and a pinch

of bright Virginia brings a subtle sweet note. Mellow, but yet full-bodied

aromas of honey and fruit essences result in a unique flavor. This tobacco

will surely be a delight.

Shocking as it may seem, there are people with disabled noses out there.

Sillem's Black has a note of movie popcorn that puts me off a bit. Perhaps I'll come back to it in a few months and give it another try. I prefer Signature but I don't remember if that has latakia.

Frog Morton smells nice to a lot of people, some go so far to say it is an aromatic, which it is clearly not, but it is very close to being a "cross-over blend." It has that old fasioned tobacco smell to it you picture when grandpa smoked a pipe (mine didn't, but it's what I would imagine). Of course your probabley best off just finding a really good smelling aromatic that you like the flavor of. Boswell aromatics have very strong flavor to them and they smell amazing.

OK I just wanted to follow up on this post......
I have purchased several tobacco tins based on the responses here, and I have to say that I REALLY enjoyed the SG Grousemoor. I decided to try it first because the reviews intrigued me...some saying it was the best they ever had; some saying the exact opposite. All stated it was quality tobacco...and I wanted to try my first SG blend because I heard so many good things about them (I usually smoke Esoterica..but was looking for a change).
I want to thank Lawrence for the suggestion. I enjoyed it enough that I have decided to dedicate a pipe to it, since it has a tendency to "ghost" based on the reviews. I liked it enough to buy several tins (it is in stock at 4noggins for those interested).
I'll get to try some of the other blends and report back but I wanted to thank pipesmagazine members for helping a guy out...
Thanks!

Ron
