Chief Catoonah's Princes Street Mixture is my middle of the road pick, and I like to jar it for 6 months or so before I smoke it.

+1 to the Old Dublin recommendations. I have been smoking HH Vintage Syrian for a bit now, and it's definitely got a nice flavor to it. Early Morning Pipe is also excellent, but I get way more Oriental leaf flavor from it than anything else. The Latakia in it is subtle.
Edit: But, with that said, I still smoke Early Morning Pipe almost daily. It's an excellent blend.

I second Pipe Novelist's suggestions. I had been a fan of Nightcap for a while before I tried the GLP lat blends. It took some time for me to understand them, especially Samarra, but once I did - they're really excellent.

This thread is kinda funny. What I'm taking away is...try them all haha obviously there are a few that get multiple recommendations, so those are probably a good place to start. Just to add another log on the fire Ill add GL Pease Ashbury. It's a beautifully balanced blend good Latakia presence, great Virginias, and nice orientals to balance the two main players.

Just got a sample of 'Bald Headed Teacher' from 4 Noggins after recommendations on the forum. Really like it. A Burley, Virginia and Latakia, very mild. Very tasty.
I'm not sophisticated enough to distinguish between the Burley and Latakia; reviews say that the flavor is heavily Burley and slightly Latakia.
I think it is an excellent smoke.

You have gotten a lot of great recommendations here, most of which I can second. I'll just mention that is you are looking for something you can buy in bulk, try Stokkebye English Luxury. It is an excellent middle-of-the-road English.

I have been looking to try an English blend I usually smoke late at night and am looking for an English tobacco that will compliment my 15 year old single malt Glenfiddich. I have been thinking of Old Dublin from Peterson or maybe Mac Baren HH Vintage or maybe the my local pipe dealers house blend any ideas guys?
