Beginner question. Say I don't smoke the entire bowl to the bottom. Do I dump it out hot or for some reason wait until it is out and cooled down?

Dumping it out while still hot should help the pipe dry out sooner, I’d think.
If it's a large enough amount I'll leave it to try again later. If not, I only leave it because I'm lazy but have always thought (without any proof) that it would be better to just go ahead and dump & clean...
I dump it out while still hot whenever I'm done. Most often with a tinge of regret for how much "dottle" is just good, albeit often wet, tobacco.
There comes a time when I am just ready to stop - usually because the taste is changing and not for the better. At that time I dump. Yeh, I am lazy.

I usually smoke till i don't want to smoke then i put it down and come back later and smoke the rest, or sometimes i just dump what's left and reload it, there is no right or wrong way.
On the forums we have an acronym for smoking half a bowl and finishing it later, "DGT".

I’ve done both, dumpling hot and cold, and didn’t detect any meaningful difference. I don’t think it matters.
Dump hot, just like a high school fling. There is always another bowl waiting to be lit up.
I let it go out. When ever I'm done with the bowl or until nothing left to smoke. Just grab another pipe and go. I don't think you'd go wrong with dumping out a hot bowl. Just don't do it into the trash directly. Use a fire proof tray.
I don't think it matters much. If you dump it all hot, be careful where you do it. Once I dumped ashes that I thought were fully extinguished, I mean there was no smoke whatsoever, but they caught the trash can on fire. As a matter of precaution, now I always wait at least five minutes from the last puff before dumping it.
That’s what I do, I leave a pipe cleaner in the pipe to soak up moisture, seems reasonably effective.

If I'm not going to smoke the rest some later time, I just dump it. Is there some particular reason why you want to save it till it gets cold?
When I first started smoking a pipe I made it a point to finish the bowl in one sitting. Then religiously clean the pipe afterwards, when it had cooled.
That's why I preferred small bowls: I just couldn't sit out there in my car for an hour or more, puffing.
Nowadays, I just smoke till I feel like going in, then put out the pipe and normally only half the bowl has been smoked; fine, I just save it for another day. I'm finishing during the week the pipe I packed on Sunday.
