For my weekend tin, I cracked a Dunhill EMP. I really liked it a lot. Although I love English and Latakia it seemed like the lat was a lot more subdued and allowed the other tobacco flavors to come through more. Also I could and did smoke it all day. With other Lat blends one bowl is enough. Any other reccommendations for blends with a mellow lat content?
Also, how does the bulk version compare. There is also a mcclelland copy I think. Hows that?

Roth, you should try Daybreak by H&H. I haven't tried EMP before but I really like Daybreak. It's blended with EMP in mind. Not a copy or a match, just along the same line as EMP.

@ Roth: That's exactly why EMP is one of the few English blends I have in my rotation.
Ditto. Roth and I must have the same taste. I like EMP for the mere suggestion (and nothing more) of Latakia.

Thanks for the post. I was wondering about the bulk EMP compared to the tinned. If the concensus is that their both the same, I'm down for a pound (if there's any around after this post). Any idea how it takes to aging?

They say you never forget your first.

EMP was my first foray into English blends.

If it weren't for SWMBO's (aka The War Department) dislike of the Latakia note, I'd surely invest in a pound.

Tis one of my favorites.

Thanks for the suggestions. The weekend before I cracked open the HH Black house and that was excellent but heavier on the lat imo. Has anyone tried the McClelland AM pipe bulk blend?

EMP bulk, IMO, is exactly the same as the tin version.
Checking 4 noggins, the price seems nearly the same for bulk and for tins. At about 8.50 per tin, buying a pound in bulk has a marginal saving compared to keeping the tobacco cellared in vacuum sealed tins where control is more or less guaranteed?
Am I missing something?

Doing the calculation there are .035 grams in a ounce times 50 equals 1.75 oz and a 50 ounce tin is I believe 8.78$ at SPC, it's 28.70$ for 8 ozs and 5 tins which is a little over 8 ozs is over 40$ Quite a saveings, but I have not used my math since I retired from the oil industry The old cajun

Ok
I just asked my account wife to figure this out for me and check your guys out. My brain for this is gone. (funny, because i'm a retailer and that is not good)
She says that Roth is correct. (I guess you too, Brad)
Now the question remains whether the 'risk' and cost with mason jars outweighs sealed tins from the factory?

Approx 15$ savings means 30$ for a lb 60$ for 2 lbs 120$ for 4 lbs you get the drift, jars are cheap and Allen don"t beat yourself up, my motor wasn"t running when I was figuring this out and wondered just how stupid I would look if I was wrong LOL. The old cajun
