EMP + Nightcap

I just had a bowl of 50% Eearly Morning Pipe mixed with 50% Nightcap. This was one of the most delicious smokes I've ever experienced.

Every other attempt at combining blends has always tasted like a disappointing mess but for some reason this one was incredible. The EMP tamed the aggressive spiciness of the Nightcap and let the best of both blends shine. It was creamy, satisfying, interesting and could be puffed heavily or sipped without the flavour ever becomes unpleasant.

Based on this combination, can anyone recommend me Englishes to try? I know it's not much to go on but I now what to try whatever I can with a similar profile.

I remember someone else raving about this combo before. You could try to find something similar, but from your description it may be hard to beat. Try mixing an ounce of each and putting it into an 8 ounce ball jar to meld for a week or more. It might get even better. If after smoking through that jar, and you decide it is a keeper, you could start mixing a tin of each at a time and jar it.

I haven't tried it yet, but perhaps GLP Chelsea Morning would be worth trying. It's another "light English" for the morning, but has a bit of Perique added.

Good to hear I'm not the first! In hindsight, it's an obvious combination to attempt. I honestly wasn't expecting to like it as, like I said, any time I've done this in the past I've regretted it.

I've just done exactly as you said. I now have a jar of "Flatcap" to enjoy.

I've never tried either of those blends but they sound great. Black House and White Knight are on my list to try next time I go to the States or have anyone visit me.

Well Balkan Blue is long gone now. It was a McClelland blend. And Black House is going away too, unfortunately.

Ah, I knew BB was an old McClelland but I didn't realize Black House is going away. I'm assuming it's due to the Sutliff thing (which I admit I haven't followed very closely due to the fact I'm in Europe). Hopefully you've managed to stock some Black House and any of your other favorites...

Back when the old Yahoo PipeSmokers2 group was active, there was an Aussie woman named Gaye in the group who had a blend she came up with called "Gaye's 421" - four parts of Dunhill 965 to 1 part Nightcap. There was a place around here at the time selling Dunhill bulks. I smoked a good bit of 421.

TBF you're basically mixing Coke and Diet Coke together - Early Morning Pipe is supposed to be a milder version of Nightcap - so it makes sense that they work well together.

Sounds like you like a Latakia forward English blend. Balkan Supreme, Skiff Mixture, Quiet Nights/Chelsea Morning, Awakened Eldar/Dreams of Kadath are all in that category.
