While I have had over 850+ different beers, I've only recently been exploring hard liquors. 
Recently I acquired a taste for Elijah Craig Small Batch Kentucky straight Bourbon. As the bottle got lighter I started to think that this stopper might make a good pipe bowl.
The problem is, I have no idea what it's made out of.
And despite E-Mailing Elijah Craig 
through their official channels, asking about the wood used in their wood cork stopper manufacture, as well as my hobby intent weeks ago...I have received no reply.
NOW I have heard of wood toxicity, oak being amongst them.
That might make sense, given that they are aged in oak barrels. Might be what they've used. I've seen folks make other things out of them, from rings to other stuff -BUT never a pipe.
I think I could use one, maybe two of these to make a single pipe bowl, and line it with pipe mortar (activated carbon, plaster of Paris, salt). They are selling these things on the web for some $8 odd (sometimes including shipping, sometimes not). At THAT price, I think I might as well pick up another bottle locally, maybe the rye.
