We saw this last night at premiere in our backwoods part of the the US (Winchester, VA!). The Ron Howard production is excellent, a must see for Beatles fans or fans of pop music history. This showing also played the remastered film of the Shea Stadium concert. I guess it is as close to a Beatles concert as anyone will ever have. I definitely recommend it on the big screen.

I heard about this on NPR this morning and can't wait to see it. Ron Howard has done some fine work.

It was incredible. I was skeptical because Anthology was quite exhaustive - so I was having a hard time imagining what could they possibly do here that was new.
Surprise: Less was indeed more. This documentary is centered on the guys, not the mania. You see Epstein around, bits and pieces of several other things... It it's about the guys. Specifically, when they were touring, and not much of the early pre-Ringo years either. In fact Paul at he beginning gets teary-eyed describing how they felt when they first played with Ringo. And that's that!
Howard didn't do a stenographic accounting here. He had a take. For the first time, for me at least, I finally understood the chemistry these guys had when they were Fab.
The Shea stadium concert after the movie was glorious. The print looked great and the sound was very well produced. Catch the documentary on Hulu or whatever if you can. They also released a live album on iTunes, very well engineered.

My favorite parts: teenage Sigourney Weaver and Whoopi Goldberg's very, very special anecdote. ssjones, what about you?

I am a big fan of Elvis Costello and loved his comments. I didn't realize that he was also from Liverpool.

We'll definitely get the Blu-Ray to watch it again. I'm sure we missed some details.

It was terrific to see the live shots and concert on the big screen. I typically don't find it necessary to see a movie in a theater these days, but this was the exception.

I was also not very familiar with the civil rights issues on their 1964 tour.
Here's some interesting observations
