Hi all,
I did some searching and found a couple of references to air purifiers in the forums here, but no real insights as to how effective they are (or aren't). Anybody use them regularly to try to stay on your significant other's good side or to skirt the "no smoking in the house" rule? I've got a smallish home office that I spend 40 hours a week in. Sure would be nice to enjoy a bowl now and then. Or maybe I should just tear myself away from work and head outside or to the garage.

Have you considered a smokers candle?

I don't have any experience with air purifiers. Sorry.

Personally, I prefer to filter my air through burning pipe tobacco.

I use a Better Living purifier in the winter. It has charcoal filters and an ionizer and does a good job. The rest of the year, I use one of those window exhaust fans. That works really well.

I don't know from experience but where I'm now living I can't smoke inside. I need wind caps or something cause somking outside with the wind gusting freaking sucks. The girl with ashtma moves out next month so I'll just have to make do till then. Oh a box fan blowing out the window works well, I used to do that when I was a teenager smoking a different kind of weed from pipes.

LOL. I'm with you there.
Specifically, I'd like to prevent the room from smelling like stale smoke over time. I've got a window-insert fan so I could pursue that. jonesing's ozone machine is interesting. I followed the link and the whole thing with the cat boxes caught my eye. I could pick up one for the cat box and then see how it works. It's my understanding that you wouldn't want to be in the room when an ozone machine is working. Link Of course, the side effect of "shortness of breath" already happens around the cat box anyway... ;-)
Hmmm... found another link when looking for the effects on electronic equipment. Not sure I'd go with the ozone maker.

I leave my little machine run 24 hours a day in our main room where my wife and I smoke most. Been doing it for over a year and I'm not dead yet.

All it does is drop a 0 molecule to pair with other o's to make oxygen.

Oh yeah another thing the ozone Machine is good for is deodorizing pipes. Some restorationists offer ozone treatment.
