So sad that this flake is gone from the market. These perfectly humidified, light brown flakes were like no other. Burley at its best! I was fortunate to get one tin with several years of age on it a couple years back and it reminded me of just how great this blend was. The superior leaf and processing involved assured you were getting a fine product every time you popped that massive blue tin. The price for this 100g tin was always better than fair in its heyday and the stout flakes held up very well if smoked whole or rubbed out. Tin aroma was sweet, but no topping here my friends. Excellent, clean, pure tobacco taste and the incredible amount of smoke would help you ascend into a trance like state of existence. Flavor, strength, aroma while burning was absolutely perfect for me, nutty, semi-sweet, cocoa, no other flake of this kind exists today, that's all inclusive folks. I must request that someone with the knowledge to reproduce this tobacco stand forward and earn the support I know reiteration of this flake would engender.

I think Wessex was not as flavorful as ES, but it is a full bodied smoke.

Thank goodness that I don't like Burley. :lol: One less whisper of the past to chase a taste of.

My daily smoke for years. I miss it a ton. 1 tin remains unopened..afraid that once I open it thats it. Its gone forever.

I will open it eventually. But its gonna be really hard to say my final goodbye to that Extra High Grade Sliced. I'll save it for a special occasion.

I have been thinking of cracking it on the anniversary of my father's passing as a memory of a different time. Not a sad rememberence, but to remember the past & the good times we had.

Seadog, have you had Solani Aged Burley, and if so, how would you compare to the Wessex Burley Slice?

I like Wessex better, has more strength and some roughness which I enjoy in a burley.

I hate to say it but the Solani was too refined for my tastes, I was looking for a little pow and did not get it and the mild flavoring just didn't work for me.

My two favorites are both deceased...University Flake and our beloved E.Sliced.

Ok. Thanks for the thoughts. I saw a tin of Edgeworth RR at an antique store the other day, and at first I thought I wasn't going to catch my breath, but then I realized it was only an empty tin. Nice looking tin, though.
