I'm sorry to hear that, another annoying issue on Ebay to watch out for...

I currently have a pipe listed and in the "Payment" category, I noticed you can choose "other options". At least it is still defaulted not to accept them unless you choose to do so. I just changed my ad to accept international shipping, but that whole category makes me a little nervous.

Echeck sucks & default postage does too, If I am selling a pipe for $50.00-$100.00, I want to ship insured, maybe with sig. required. Sold something once though USPS, they said they never got it & I ate it. I know that everyone wants $4.00 to ship a pipe, but it doesn't mean you are going to get it & the seller loses.

Some of you asked to let you know what happened with this buyer. Well, the e-check was supposed to clear today, but it didn't. I got a notice from PayPal saying the check couldn't be cleared by the bank (insufficient funds, perhaps?). I guess Al's nose was right on this one ("smells scammy").
I'll be re-listing a pipe, then.
Thanks, again, for the good advice everyone offered on this.

Sorry about the headache, Pitchfork. It's like I said in an earlier post on this thread, there are a lot of instances where someone gets an eBay account, and then goes around bidding on and winning many auctions and then never paying. The individual is usually never heard from again. Many sellers, myself included, need to see at least one successful transaction by the member before allowing that person to bid. You may want to include that caveat in your auctions to hopefully avoid another annoyance. Someone else here said I was being too harsh by not allowing folks with zero feedback to bid, but your experience is just another example of why it isn't.
Best,

For safety, I agree, roth. USPS is the way to go. That's what many gold bullion dealers use -- in which case you're talking about a package worth as much as a Bo Nordh (or more).

As soon as Pitch wrote of the final outcome, it made think back to those comments regarding the zero feedback. I currently do not have that standard set for my auctions, but will do so later today.
And, like Rothn's wife, I have no issues with USPS, they have been bullet-proof. I just started using the mobile app, which gives you real-time updates on package tracking.
